Utter Frustration .. aaarrrgghhhh!

I've been working on a sneaky quilt.  I haven't talked about it because I'm not sure if the recipient reads my blog .. and I can't exactly ask, can I?  :-)

I found the perfect, I mean .. PERFECT fabric for the borders.  I figured out how to use the border fabric effectively with the rest of the top that has already been made.

Serendipitously, I had a day where I could work on the borders without interruption.

and ?

I can NOT find the border fabric.  Absolutely astounding.  How could I *possibly* lose fabric?  I know I had it fairly recently because I had to measure it in order to figure out how to use the limited amount I had with the top that I had.  I even drew out the schematic .. so I *know* I had the fabric recently.

And now I can't find it.  Oh. My. Gosh.  I can't believe this.

It's not with the top.  It's not with the batting because I haven't pulled that yet. I have looked everywhere it should be.   I have looked everywhere it shouldn't be.  I have looked again.  As I have always advised my daughters, I even looked UNDER things and PICKED THINGS UP and rifled through piles.  It's not there.

Well, it's obviously SOMEWHERE.   I have outdone myself in stashing this fabric in a Safe Place.

Gosh, I hate Safe Places.  ::sigh::

(aside: Nell .. this is not your quilt!   You may rest assured all of your pieces are safe.)

  1. Welcome to my world.
It will no doubt be found hiding in plain sight. :)

  2. You'll find it for sure now that you have told everyone it was hiding from you.....

  3. Sharyn & Quiet ... I am actually counting on it being in plain sight. I'm HOPING that it'll show up and I'll feel really dumb. Cuz I'd hate to think that it sprouted feet and walked away. :-)

  4. it will be in the last place you look for it!!

  5. I have become better at looking UNDER things, only to be foiled when I discovered I also need to look INSIDE things (like drawers and desks).

I', not sure how reassuring telling Nell her pieces are "safe" is if missing fabric is kept in a "safe place." :P

  6. You measured it twice to make sure it was exactly right and then you folded it neatly and put it back where you found it in the first place.

That's what I would have done. I wouldn't leave it out in plain sight, I would put it back.

That,my dear woman, is called a senior moment. Or, here in Ohio, it is called a brain f**t. :-)

  7. This story should make you feel better: I was working on a project that needed a lot of covered buttons. I went to the store on Saturday and bought what I needed. I made all my buttons, but found I was four short and figured that I miscounted. Went back on Sunday to buy one more package. Could not find them anywhere on Monday, spent an hour looking. Monday evening went to the store to buy more and found the new set in my coat pocket. Tuesday cleaned up my sewing room and found another set on my cutting table. As my dad always says, I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached!
